Thoughts on South Africa

Over the past few weeks, South Africa has been in the news. What is at the heart of the matter is the removal of Thabo Mbeki as the President. There are those that are or were not happy and those that are excited. What is important though is how the country reacted and continue to deal with these developments. From afar, South Africa is handling the matter well. In part, such a reaction in my opinion can be attributed to how President Mbeki handled the matter, he accepted the will of the ANC. It can be argued that there might have been expectations around the world that the reaction would be otherwise.

Closing thought: The US elections are the main headlines around the world. After January 20, 2009 the eyes of the world will turn to South Africa. In the meantime South Africa will be preparing the stage for her performance.

Your turn to share your thoughts....

  3. Hello from NZ. We have our general election on Saturday, November the 8th, 4 days after the Congress, Senate (one third) and - oh yeah, Presidential vote in the USA.

Thanks to that wonderous Stephen B, he has introduced me to another wonderful person.
